Consistent Small Actions Will Help You Reach Even Your Biggest Life Goals

By Leslie White

Breaking your goals down into smaller steps will not only help you reach your goals faster, but it will also save you from becoming overwhelmed. This is one of the best strategies for staying on track and maintaining your motivation when you are trying to make changes in your life. Taking a baby steps approach with consistent small actions and changes can make all the difference.

You Will Have Less Resistance Getting Started

Finding the motivation to make big changes can be hard. Sometimes you don’t know where to start because it all seems so overwhelming. People tend to take on too much too quickly. This is not sustainable, so they will often decide to just throw in the towel. If you come up with a plan to take small steps each day, your chances of success will increase. It will seem less intimidating to begin, and you’ll soon gain momentum that keeps you forging ahead.

Small Steps Make a Big Difference

In addition to gaining momentum and motivation with each small step, you’ll soon start to see your goals come into focus as you move along. Small and consistent steps add up and lead to significant results if you just keep going. Before long, you’ll be able to see progress. To stay motivated, take time to celebrate each achievement, no matter how small.  This will encourage you to continue on the path toward your goal.

Small Actions Are Easier

Tackling a big goal is simply easier when you break it down. It also makes the process less stressful because you’re able to focus on one thing at a time.  People are more likely to quit when they think they have to accomplish everything at once. Taking small, achievable actions can free you from a fear of failure and allow you to continue your path to success.

Create Habits That Last

Taking small steps consistently helps you to overcome problems like procrastination and overwhelm. You gain confidence with each new task you accomplish. Soon, you’ll notice that adding new activities to the process becomes less difficult. That’s because you’re creating new neural pathways in your brain that make these new habits seem like second nature and will help them become long-lasting as you work toward achieving your goals.

These are just some of the many reasons you should rely on small, consistent steps to help you reach your goals. Anything is possible when you have a strategic plan.

How to Be Intentional with Your Life

By Leslie White

Exactly what does it mean to live intentionally? Being intentional with your life simply means taking responsibility for the decisions you make every single day. It can be very easy to go through the day without paying attention, making the same decisions today that you made yesterday. We often find ourselves falling into habits and making decisions on autopilot. To live with intention means to do the opposite of that. It means making deliberate choices. Here are some tips to help you get started.

Find Your Purpose

It is easier to live with intention, when you know your purpose. This is not as hard as it sounds.  Knowing your purpose can simply mean defining a philosophy for living. What is most important to you? Make a list of what you value. For example, are your relationships really important to you?  Then be sure to include making and growing personal connections in your daily activities.  Do you really want a promotion at work?  Make sure you are making promotable decisions every day. When you take time to decide what’s most important to you, you are more likely to live with those values in mind.

Make A List Of Your Goals

Once you’ve decided on your purpose, you can make a list of goals to help you live according to this philosophy. Having goals in mind gives you guidelines for moving forward. You’ll have a plan, and that will help you move in a direction that is in line with your values.

Notice Your Opportunities

It’s important to know that each new day gives you an opportunity to make changes. You may not be happy with where you are right now, but you have the chance to take baby steps and make small changes toward reaching your goals. Living intentionally requires noticing the opportunities before you and taking chances to get what you want.

Practice Gratitude

Gratitude is a powerful concept when it comes to living a life of intention. Acknowledging the good things you have right now lets you build upon that foundation. Being thankful for what you have puts you in a mindset to pursue more good things. You’ll soon discover you’re no longer coming from a place of lack. Instead, you’ll feel more content and optimistic about the possibilities that life can bring.

Live Authentically

Finally, it’s important that you live according to your priorities.  Make sure you’re being true to yourself. Living intentionally means that you know who you are. You’re not pretending to be someone you think others want you to be. Keeping your purpose and values in mind will help to be sure the actions you take are in sync with who you truly are and where you want to go.

Living with intention takes a great deal of introspection and self-awareness. Take time to consider your priorities, goals, and values in order to be sure you’re living a life that means something to YOU.

Living Your Best Life Doesn’t Mean It Has to Be Perfect

By Leslie White

Living your best life is a wonderful goal to shoot for, but many of us confuse that with living the perfect life. We get hung up on all the details, trying to make sure everything is just right. We tell ourselves it has to be the right time or the best circumstances before we’re ready to try something new or make a change. We let perfectionism hold us back. If you feel you fall into this trap, keep reading and learn how you can live your best life without waiting for it to be perfect.

Consider What’s at Stake

First, when you get caught up in feeling like things have to be just right, take a minute to consider the stakes. What will you miss out on if you wait until things are perfect? What opportunity are you giving up? Often, this simple reflection will be enough to push you toward going after your goal, rather than waiting for a better time.

Know It’s Not All or Nothing

The all or nothing trap is one that is common. This is the belief that you have to have all the resources in place or know everything there is to know before taking on a task. This line of thinking is false. It’s simply a way of getting caught up in the cycle of perfectionism and remaining in place. Take baby steps and give it a try even if you don’t have everything in place. Sometimes things come together on their own.

Change Your Self-Talk

If perfectionism is holding you back from living your best life, chances are good that you’re probably sending yourself some negative messages. Listen to what your inner critic is saying to you the next time you decide that you shouldn’t do something and then see if you can’t turn that message around. If you hear yourself saying that you’ll never get the job promotion because you’re not qualified, try giving yourself some realistic reasons why you might just have what it takes and what you have to offer. Refuting negative self-talk can go a long way to stopping perfectionism in its tracks.

Good Enough Is Good Enough

Finally, try just accepting good enough and see what happens. The next time you want to do something different or step out of your comfort zone, but you don’t think you’re ready, just go for it. Pay attention to how you feel and what it’s like to push past those feelings. Note the end result. Maybe things won’t turn out perfectly, but you may discover they end up being worthwhile anyway.

Keep these steps in mind the next time your inner perfectionist tries to sabotage you and keep you from living your best life. You may be surprised at the results.
